Job Description Summary

The Enterprise Analytics team at CCC is seeking a Business Intelligence (Information) Engineer that turns data into high business value information.  The team provides analytical solutions for all CCC’s customers from insurance carriers, repair shops, parts manufacturers, and vehicle manufacturers.   CCC solutions for these customers involves vehicle property damage and repair; medical claims, and telematics data.

As a Business Intelligence (Information) Engineer, you will be working with CCC’s customers and internal stakeholders to create best of breed dashboards.  Your business, communication, and technical skills will enable you to be successful in understanding and recommending designs that will assist the user in making decisions to improve performance for their responsibilities.  CCC has a robust data environment to assist in helping users determine the right auto repair costs, medical treatment costs, and other important outcomes such as process time, productivity and consumer satisfaction.

Job Duties

  • Engage internal and external clients for developing dashboard requirements with demos of prototypes with business stories so the prototype can be enhanced to solution common requirements across clients
  • Design and create the next generation of data visualization solutions in Tableau, MicroStrategy, and/or Alteryx
  • Work closely with product managers, business analysts and agile team to plan and build solutions quickly and iteratively
  • Extract and transform data to build reporting prototypes
  • Work with agile team to QA solutions
  • Research technical solutions to business problems
  • Provide technical development mentoring to other engineers

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering or other related field.
  • Minimum 2-3 years’ experience in developing user reporting or dashboard solutions with BI tools such as Tableau or MicroStrategy with at least one year with Tableau
  • Ability to design and develop dynamic dashboards, scorecards and reporting – should have a portfolio of work
  • Proficiency in Dimensional Data Models and Data Warehouse concepts 
  • Strong SQL and scripting skills
  • Ability to quickly understand business concepts by demonstrating mastery of a business and industry area and the analytics that create business value
  • Understanding of databases, ETL tools, and best practices in creating and delivering useful information
  • Technical aptitude and problem-solving skills, cooperative approach
  • Self-motivated and self-managed with a high degree of analytical and intellectual curiosity
  • Ability to be a strong agile team member, mentor others, and communicate effectively
  • Capability to prioritize and multi-task, and reasonably estimate work effort for tasks
  • Familiarity with agile development, developer role, and agile processes

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated capability to understand business needs and translating these needs into a user experience and visualizations that enable effective decision making with data
  • Prototyping experience to refine requirements
  • Medical or Auto insurance industry experience
  • SQL debugging experience 
  • Hands on ETL and Data modeling skills 
  • Experience with relational database platforms (Oracle, etc.)
  • Experience with big data tools (Hadoop, Hive, Spark, etc.)
  • Experience with cloud hosting (AWS)
  • Experience with other data analysis and visualization tools – the broader the background the better
