The Opportunity: The Chief of staff to the CTO is a strategic and integral member of the CTO leadership team. In working closely with the CTO, the successful candidate will help manage and oversee cross-functional projects and initiatives related to product/technology exploration and acceleration while ensuring technology effectiveness across business units
A Day in the Life:

  • Oversee strategic business initiatives from development through to successful execution under the guidance of executive leadership
  • Assist and communicate with executives in decision-making, program management and initiative implementation
  • Develop and manage dashboards and analytics to monitor team performance indicators
  • Ensure communication and alignment across different business units and geographies as related to product and technology delivery
  • Be a change agent and ensure best practices and improvements through the product lifecycle
  • Develop and manage both internal and external CTO Office communications in a way that demonstrates a deep understanding of message content and impact on the intended audience
  • Review, design, and execute on improvements to organizational structure, find knowledge and skills gaps and help address them
  • Manage and oversee the technology budget in collaboration with Finance
  • Oversee the CTO Office planning process from an operational and staffing perspective

Role progression:
Within 1 month, you will:

  • Complete new hire on-boarding process including eLearning courses, instructor led training, peer shadowing, and more
  • Learn Litera's organization, business strategy and technology processes collaborating with teammates, attending training sessions, and participate in in-product guided experiences
  • Meet the team and learn the nuts and bolts of our business and our culture
  • Become familiar with best practices, processes, and technology tools including business unit product roadmaps, engineering strategy and plans
  • Start taking ownership of key technology metrics and dashboard

Within 3 months, you will:

  • Be leading at least one strategic project, as a way to learn our methods and our business
  • Reporting out to the Litera executive team on roadmap and release progress
  • Have formed ideas and recommendations for managing the full portfolio of projects across all business units
  • Make recommendations on improvements for cross business unit communication
  • Perform the role of manager and provide coaching and leadership to your team

Within 6 months, you will:

  • Defined the long-term design and operations of the Program Management office
  • Refresh our dashboards and metrics as needed
  • Lead delivery planning and budgeting along with cross functional and business unit teams
  • Define release milestones and deliverable structure and content
  • Facilitate executive roadmap reviews
  • Direct on-time, quality delivery of work; identify and manage risks

About You:

  • Bachelor's degree with 7+ years of experience in a product / engineering heavy, operations, or technical program management role. 
  • Experience working with and/or leading technical strategy & direction
  • Exceptionally organized and experienced in communicating across multiple teams, geographies, and business units
  • Experience developing work plans and leading strategic initiatives
  • Managing day to day interactions with executives and key stakeholders
  • Strong desire to keep learning new things
  • Ability to travel on a limited basis
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including presentation skills (MS Visio, MS PowerPoint) and executive presence
  • Strong problem solving and troubleshooting with the ability to exercise mature judgment
  • Experience with staff development and eagerness to mentor junior practitioner
