Cloud Operations Manager

We are seeking a highly motivated, talented engineering manager to lead our operations team.  As an Operations Manager at Narrative Science you will own infrastructure automation, security, and tooling design and will work closely with our software development teams to design solutions that support continuous integration and deployment. Someone who is passionate about continuous improvement and automation will fit in well with our team. 

Responsibilities:

• Improve tooling, processes and infrastructure that support all of Narrative Science
• You will automate everything: security processes, platform deploys, and everything in between
• Identify, design and develop automation solutions to improve team efficiency
• Seek code reviews and code review your peers’ work
• Own certain components or systems, and continuously work to improve them
• Dive deep to resolve problems at their root, looking for failure patterns and suggesting fixes.
• Be an ambassador for the team to both our internal and external clients.

Qualifications:

• A Bachelor's degree or 5+ years of professional software development experience
• Familiarity with Amazon Web Services
• Proven software related project experience
• Past experience managing or mentoring a team of engineers
• Ability to write clear, concise and tested code.
• Experience developing in Unix systems
• Experience working with and debugging web applications
• Proven capability for critical thinking, problem solving and the patience to see hard problems through to the end with our clients
• The desire to “go wide” in your skillset.  We don’t need you to have experience with everything yet, but you’ll be working with infrastructure, writing code, and dealing with everything in between
