We’re seeking a creative CTO/co-founder who has an entrepreneurial spirit and passion for uncovering Chicago’s rich stories. In this role, you will start out as the lead, hands-on developer and help guide the technological vision for our slated summer launch and beyond. You will work closely with Happenstance’s founders to debug app glitches, add features and manage the technology roadmap. As we grow, you will also have the opportunity to build and manage an internal tech team and continue overseeing the technology and strategy.

We’re currently a startup in the true sense of the word. We’re pre-seed but plan on seeking funding later this year. That means this position will be unpaid until we receive funding. So, we need someone who knows how to be scrappy and believes in our vision and mission as much as we do.

Since our app is currently close to MVP, the ideal candidate will have experience in developing and launching mobile apps and proficiency in Ionic, AngularJS and Firebase. Experience with WordPress, or willing to learn, is a plus.

It would also be helpful to have experience with React and Microsoft Azure.

Qualifications

Minimum of 2 years of mobile application development experience

Expert in Ionic, AngularJS and Firebase

Exposure to or experience with WordPress development or equivalent technology

Excellent written and verbal communication and management skills

Team player and can work with minimal supervision

Experience building and/or managing a technology team
