The Challenge

We are looking for an enthusiastic Developer Advocate to join us and ensure that our users and future customers are thrilled with our platform. This is a role for a developer who thrives in an environment where you get to help and influence other developers in the community. You will have the opportunity to connect developers to the oak9 platform and educate them on its capabilities. You’re a friendly, proactive, outgoing, (maybe a little nerdy 😊 ) evangelist for technology! Oak9’s Developer Advocate will have a knack for inserting themself into various developer communities and creating raving fans of our technology. We are a growing company, so you should be excited by the idea of creating new educational materials and outreach.

The Skillset:

• 4+ years of software development experience 
• 2+ years of Developer Advocate or related experience 
• You find joy in serving the community and helping fellow developers get better at their jobs 
• You enjoy speaking in front of groups of developers at conferences and meetups 
• Your passion for technology inspires you to explore your curiosity; you love learning new things 
• You have empathy and passion for developer experience and an interest in building processes and tools that optimize for it 
• You have strong customer-focus, interpersonal and communication skills 
• You have the ability to communicate complex topics in an engaging and understandable fashion 
• You have natural problem-solving abilities, an inquisitive personality, and an eagerness to take on the challenge of big problems 
• You’re skilled at presenting technical topics in clear and concise ways 

In 30 days, you will...

• Get to know oak9! Learn about our systems, processes, people, and vision 
• Become intimately familiar with cloud service provider offerings and security considerations associated with them 
• Create technical material to help users understand and realize the value of oak9 products 

In 60 days, you will...

• Coordinate with the marketing team to create developer focused content, webinars, and blog posts 
• Establish yourself as a trusted technical peer and community advocate by generating innovative content, whether it is blog posts, videos, code examples, workshops, webinars etc. You will have tremendous freedom in this space to be creative and generative. 
• Listen to users and the broader community, understand pain points and opportunities, and deliver feedback to the Marketing, Engineering, and Product teams 
• Act as a liaison and champion for the oak9 developer community 
• Build a calendar of workshops and webinars for customers and partners 

In 90 days, you will...

• Measure and report on developer community growth and business impact 
• Interpret community feedback to drive insights and assist product development 
• Contribute to both internal and external technical documentation, tutorials, and other educational efforts
• Attend conferences and events on behalf of oak9 
• Build a plan on how to engage and attract more developers to oak9. Maybe this includes Reddit or creating our own Meetups
