The role in a nutshell

As a Senior Development Engineer at Retrofit you’ll work in an agile, collaborative environment to understand requirements, code and test innovative web and mobile applications, and support those applications for our highly valued customers.  Your work will primarily be focused on backend development and you also may be provided opportunities to get involved in supporting other new and existing applications or technologies.

What you'll do

  • Research, design, prototype, develop, and maintain software/systems
  • Research and apply new technologies to solve business problems
  • Participate in multi-disciplinary projects
  • Contribute to technology platforms, tools, and processes
  • Troubleshoot issues, verify bugs, implement problem resolutions
  • Provide technical/engineering support for new and existing applications
  • Provide reasonable task and project effort estimates
  • Ensure timely, effective, and quality delivery of software into production
  • Develop and test applications based on requirements and best practices
  • Create and maintain required technical documentation
  • Adhere to documented departmental and company standards
  • Periodically troubleshooting during off-hours for system failures
  • Collaboratively work with QA team to ensure delivery of high-quality products
  • Collaboratively work with Retrofit client happiness team to resolve or diagnose defects

What you'll need

  • 2+ years development experience building consumer web and mobile applications
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, engineering or equivalent
  • Excellent technical and communication skills
  • Java, Scala
  • IntelliJ & Git
  • NoSQL DB (Mongo)
  • Some Javascript preferred
  • Knowledge of REST services
  • Mainstream authentication methods
  • 3rd party API Integration experience
  • Intellectual curiosity, positive attitude and a desire to influence the products being built
