DevOps Engineer – Cloud Applications
Job Description
The position of Engineer, Cloud Application Services, is responsible for working with Application Development teams to most effectively run and operate our enterprise applications on cloud platforms. This is a DevOps position for a technologist who is comfortable owning the responsibility for full-stack engineering and support for products primarily focused on In-Memory-Data-Grid capabilities, but also involved in multiple aspects of PaaS platforms and capabilities.
Primary Responsibilities :
- Full lifecycle management and accountability of products supporting the desired IMDG capabilities. Today this includes Pivotal Gemfire, but will evolve and extend to additional products as needed.
- Product Strategy definition, articulation and communication. Product evangelist role across the enterprise to socialize capability, drive adoption and product evolution
- Conduct research, support proof-of-concepts on new products that evolve the PaaS/cloud data capabilities
- Contribute to user groups and gather best practices from peer groups
- Promote a risk-aware culture, ensure efficient and effective risk and compliance management practices by adhering to required standards and processes.
Skills
- Bachelor’s Degree (Preferably in Computer Science or related field)
- 5+ yrs working an in a technology environment (preferably infrastructure)
- Experience supporting large, mission critical application deployments
- Experience with application architectures, with a focus on Service Oriented Architecture / microservices-based implementations
- Experience with an IMDG product, preferably Gemfire or Apache Geode
- Experience with most facets of CI/CD, TDD and general infrastructure as code principles
- Automation experience highly preferred – scripting, programming or CM tools such as Chef, Puppet or Anisible
- Excellent leadership, organization and communication skills
- Proven track record of mentoring junior team members, focusing on soft and technical skill development
- Significant experience providing support to business-critical production environments, leading support calls, identifying and resolving issues quickly
- Strong team player, self-motivated, requiring minimal direction, good work ethic, open to learning new technologies, forward and strategic thinking
- Fluent with modern operating systems concepts, and network, storage, database and security domain
