As the Director of Engineering, Data Products you will be responsible for setting the strategic technical direction for several key functional areas, including: Scalable compute and machine learning architecture, programmatic merchandising (search and related models), and data products.

What you’ll be doing

• Working closely with the CTO, principal engineers, and your team to set and execute strategic technical direction for the Data Products group.
• Utilizing your depth of experience as a technical leader to provide guidance and mentorship to engineers under your care.
• Working closely with product managers and engineering leads in your functional areas to plan, execute, and delivery key new functionality for the business.
• Leveraging the experience of highly technical platform engineers and data scientists to productionalize predictive models for various objectives such as: search, market trends, and financial risk.
• Working 100% remote from anywhere in the US or Canada, or with your colleagues at our Chicago offices.

What we are looking for

• A seasoned technologist with a deep passion for the craft of software engineering. A person who knows the value of interactive development and invests heavily in the tools, practices, and people necessary to support it.
• A mentor and coach who works hard to build an engineering culture that can create amazing software engineers.
• A veteran engineer who contributes significantly to architectural decisions through facilitation and an ability to work and communicate with highly technical data scientists and software engineers.
• A background in one of computer science, mathematics, or statistics is preferred. Experience working with Python, DBT, Sagemaker and Snowflake is preferred but not required.
