divvyDOSE is looking for a Director of Engineering to manage the multiple software development teams and initiatives that support our product. We're in the exciting and rapidly evolving consumer healthcare industry, which requires constant innovation, evaluation, and iteration. The engineering team's primary product runs our nationwide pharmacy operations and customer portals. As a Director of Engineering, you will lead, manage, and inspire the engineering teams that build the software for our pharmacy system. The objective is to ensure the high quality and scalability of our product, while managing the growth and technical vision needed to achieve the goals of the company.

Responsibilities

  • Be a strategic thought leader for the divvyDOSE engineering team with a mindset broader than engineering (product, operations, etc.)
  • Establish and maintain engineering core principles and processes to ensure the speedy delivery of well-tested and well-architected solutions across projects.
  • Work closely with product and executive leadership to develop a roadmap that meets the goals of the technology team, with consideration of SLO driven initiatives and compliance/security.
  • Communicate project updates, status of timelines, and potential delays with stakeholders and the executive team.
  • Hire, build, and coach high performing engineering teams to deliver timely excellence in support of the company vision and goals.
  • Mentor and assist engineering managers in technical design and delivery decisions, performance, and career growth.
  • Help build and maintain an engineering culture of inclusion, collaboration, mentorship, transparency, and ownership.
  • Build frameworks and coordinate cross team initiatives to help foster an environment aligned with our culture and values.

  • AWS Lambda (Serverless framework), EC2, and ECS
  • Amazon API Gateway, Flask, SQLAlchemy
  • Docker
  • Terraform and CloudFormation
  • RDS (PostgreSQL), DynamoDB, and ElasticSearch
  • Jenkins and CircleCI
  • Sentry, Datadog, Segment, Heap, Google Analytics

Requirements

  • 12+ years combined experience in software engineering and managing software development teams.
  • Excellent communication, coaching, and technical skills.
  • Strong development background with experience in architecture design and microservice solutions.
  • Experience building and scaling applications in AWS, Azure, or GCP.
  • Experience in project execution and delivery in complex, high growth technical environments.
  • Track record of leading high performing teams and hiring, mentoring and retaining exceptional talent.
  • Bonus: Experience with Healthcare, HL7, or HIPAA Applications

Our engineering office is in River North in the famous Mies van der Rohe building with breathtaking views of Lake Michigan and the Chicago River.
