As part of our newly formed, Technology Capabilities and Innovation organization, we are seeking a Director, Technology Innovation to continue to drive change across the technology function.
Innovation occurs best when you have the right organizational capability and becomes sustainable when it’s part of “business as usual”. As leader of Innovation at Discover, you will work across the organization to establish the Discover Innovation Method that infuses innovation practices into the Discover Way of working. You will have an opportunity to accelerate innovation capability by leading Discover Innovation Engineering, Discover Hackathons and the Discover Invention Program.
As a leader, you will have a strong engineering mindset, a passion for innovation, and the ability to build strong partnerships at all levels across our enterprise. We are looking for individuals to leverage Agile methodology and eliminate redundancies that will allows our teams to strive for excellence.
The Director, Technology Innovation will have oversight for setting goals for the team, hiring engineers, prioritizing projects and having a deep knowledge of technology and ecosystem trends. This leader will be actively involved in developing new products, identifying requirements, mentoring engineers and setting timelines and proposing different ways of thinking about technology and ecosystems to deliver value.
This Director will be responsible for bringing the future vision of technology at Discover to life today. Future-focused, this leader will think about possibilities all things people-related and have a strong bias for action. This individual will translate high-level concepts to our Executive Committee and immediately jump into the details helping to execute strategy and drive accountability across a highly matrixed organization. In addition, the Director will ensure the success of the upcoming Discover Technology Academy, a world-class in-house technical university for engineers, by engineers that will help to propel Discover forward and achieve our ambitious tech transformation goals.
- Sets and Implements best practice engineering methods.
- Provides technical guidance, methods, standards and innovation to engineering teams and top management across Discover.
- Oversees development/advocacy teams and their projects, monitor reliability and performance of all internal systems to suggest improvements and ensure compliance with security regulations.
- Supports established organizational objectives by developing goals and strategies.
- Presenting budgets and plans, finding and implementing ways to improve cost-efficiency.
- Maintains good relationships with internal and external stakeholder, skilled in working by influence.
- Clear understating of technology, development practices, and ecosystem and business trends with a practical approach to driving innovation.
- Bachelor’s degree required. Master's degree preferred.
- 10+ years of experience in leadership development, adult education, business or a related field.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
