Director of Technology
Morningstar, one of Fortune Magazine's 100 Best Companies to Work For, is seeking a Technical Manager for its Commodity Data team in Chicago. The Morningstar Commodity Data business (or Commodity and Energy C&E) aggregates market and fundamental data from several hundred sources for blue chip customers engaged in commodity trading and risk management. Morningstar Commodity Data`s strengths lie in building creative software solutions for market data collection, organization, and distribution coupled with a suite of applications to query data at the desktop and feed it to downstream enterprise applications.
The Director of Technology works closely with the development team to monitor strategic initiatives and identify opportunities to improve our product suite. They also work with product and sales teams across C&E plus IT teams in Morningstar to create, maintain and support product offerings.
+Manage a global team of 30 plus Software Engineers, QA Engineers and DevOps Engineers to ensure high productivity and high quality product development.
+Collaborate with product management, client support, and global teams to track and implement new functional requests.
+ Work with DevOps team to ensure C&E products are supported, updated and secured to Morningstar standards (this includes working with auditors for SOC1)
+ Liaise with client and prospects to represent C&E products for Prioritize the development pipeline.
+ A Master’s degree in Software Engineering, or equivalent experience is required.
+ Over 10 years of experience in leading and managing software teams, using agile.
+ Strong technical abilities (mainly in the Java and Unix space) with some experience using AWS technologies
+ Understanding and experience of commodity data
+ DevOps leadership experience is a plus.
