Department OverviewThe Software Enterprise Deployment and Integration team is the team that delivers solutions to the public safety sector. We are committed to providing technology and tools which will allow customers to focus on their mission, and enable them to respond faster with smarter and safer decisions. We deploy and support products such as Computer Aided Dispatch, Records Management Systems, Jail Management Systems and Mobile Data Computing, among other offerings.
Job Description
The ECH Field Engineering Manager will report to the Regional Emergency Call Handling Director and will be responsible for all Field Engineering activities within the region. The Manager will manage a team of individual contributors providing guidance, mentoring, and training and development support.
Our product integration includes applications, directory services, IP and telephony networking, security, servers, and storage across several hardware and virtualization platforms. The ECH Field Engineering Manager will work closely with our customers and project teams at various stages of project deployments to provide expert consultation and support on network architecture and infrastructure solutions. The Manager will be responsible for setting goals, performance management reviews, scheduling, day to day monitoring of the individual team members performance, training and development planning, time card approval, and expense report approval.
Responsibilities include:
Setting and measuring team members goals
Provide training/coaching/mentor/counseling of team members
Recruit and train additional team members based on business needs
Ensure high utilization of resources and make adjustments as appropriate
Working with the Emergency Call Handling Director to plan, prioritize, and schedule project resources
Working with the Solutions Architect acts as the design authority and ‘engineer of record’ for the region.
Participation in the development of and approval of Methods of Procedure
Work collaboratively with other teams (PM, SA, Training) within the region to ensure successful deployment of projects
Working with Emergency Call Handling Managers from the other Regions to ensure consistency, share best practices, and implement lessons learned.
Responsible for driving process improvement and best practices across the Field Engineering disciplines.
Participate in pre-contract evaluation of system design and scope in order to evaluate and mitigate potential risks/gaps.
Participation in pre-contract Oral presentations and customer negotiations where required
Attending Leadership and management training as required
Approving Travel and Expense reports
Approving Time Sheets
Specific Knowledge / Skills:
Bachelor's degree desired
7+ plus years deployment and integration of complex IP products and systems
Experience with installation, administration, and troubleshooting of:
Server Virtualization, specifically with VMWare ESXi v.6+ and\or Microsoft Hyper-V 2012+
Database Servers, specifically with Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2\2012\2016
Server Operating Systems, specifically Windows Server 2008 R2\2012\2012 R2\2016
Network Switches, preferably with Cisco IOS
Firewalls and Routers, preferably with Fortinet Fortigate
Storage Systems (SAN\NAS\DAS), preferably with Nimble, HP 3PAR and StoreOnce
Server Hardware, including blade servers
Previous experience in Public Safety Applications deployment and integration and/or operations and administration.
Must have previous experience managing a team of professionals.
High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
Experience leading highly complex projects.
Experience leading and directing the work activities of the team across organizational/functional boundaries.
Exercises judgment in the selection of methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.
Ability to work collaboratively with regional and territorial management.
Ability to effectively communicate with relevant peer and senior stakeholders.
Ability to apply critical thinking skills to solve problems and make decisions
