Job Description
As an Electrical Engineer, you will be involved in the design and development activities of highly sophisticated camera devices for professional and mission-critical markets in the commercial, government, and industrial segments.
Responsibilities:
Design of digital electronic and power supply circuits using EDA tools including schematic capture, PCB layout and SPICE simulation tools
Creation and maintenance of board design files and bills of materials
Testing and troubleshooting of electronic circuit boards
Creation and maintenance of design and testing documentation
Estimation of work and cost required to complete proposed tasks and the tracking of the work and cost as the tasks progress
Construction of prototypes for purposes of testing circuit designs as needed, using workbench tools and test equipment
Testing and mitigation of compliance issues
Qualifications:
Degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering or Diploma of Technology in Electronics
5+ years of experience designing products and solutions
Strong understanding of SoC/DSP design incorporating DDR, flash, high speed sensor and Ethernet interfaces
Strong understanding of isolated, PoE and PoE+ power supply design
Extensive knowledge of EMC and safety standards and design requirements to ensure that the products meet these standards
Ability to critically assess and optimize the cost and performance of designs
Proven ability to design reliable electronic products using the latest technologies
Hands-on testing and troubleshooting experience
Strong soldering and improvisation abilities
Strong organizational and documentation skills
Demonstrated enthusiasm for electronics and a pragmatic approach to problem solving
Self-motivated, with the ability to learn quickly and independently, and work within a team
Familiarity with schematic capture, circuit simulation, and PCB layout software
Ability to interact with vendors to optimize component selection in new designs
Must reside in Greater Fort Collins or willing to relocate to Fort Collins
Preference will be given to candidates with the following skills and experience:
Understanding of embedded C, revision control (SVN or CVS), issue tracking tools (JIRA), and PLM systems (Agile, Arena)
Ability to use scripting languages such as Python, TCL, etc. to automate everyday tasks
Experience designing and testing video camera products (machine vision or IP cameras)
Basic Requirements
