The Electronics Engineer plans, develops, and conducts tests on electronic PCBs, products, and systems, applying knowledge and principles of electronic theory, testing methodology and procedures, and electronic engineering. This individual is responsible for designing test fixture hardware and software to conduct tests on electronic products and systems. This role is also responsible for evaluating design for testability and implements test philosophy into the new designs.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Evaluates schematics, designs and develops hardware and software to emulate and test electronic printed circuit boards and electronic systems.
Designs test software to assure product is manufactured as designed and meets company test specifications as well as industry standards.
Designs, develops, and debugs electronic and mechanical interfaces and fixtures for product being tested.
Ability to analyze test data using excel tools and process capability statistics (cp and cpk analysis).
Develops and implements new testing methods and technologies.
Reduces testing cost by developing faster test software and common interface board test fixture hardware design, while maintaining tester performance.
Researches alternative strategies for product improvement to increase manufacturing yield. Discuss test philosophy with new component vendors to assure high quality levels.
Attends and participates in product development meetings to ensure product testability.
Works with the technical team to develop sufficient and cost-effective test equipment. Holds test systems specification and design reviews.
Works with design houses, contract manufacturers, test equipment vendors and test labs.
Develops and utilizes computer based hardware simulators.
Excellent verbal, writing and organizational skills to maintain records, provide data, and support problem resolution.
Minimal travel required to support final assembly testers, board level test fixtures, and test equipment.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum of 5 years of experience designing functional test equipment hardware and test software for electronic PCBs and electronic systems
Minimum of 2 years of schematic capture experience using Altium and/or Orcad tools or equivalent.
Designs functional test platforms for PXI, PC Based, and stand-alone test equipment using electronics knowledge and test methodologies.
At least 5 years of LabVIEW experience designing functional test equipment and test software; Experience with C, C++, and Visual Basic programming languages desirable.
Designs test plans and test scripts using NI Test Stand test executive sequencer application.
Designs functional test software applications using Windows OS. (Linux and Android OS a plus)
Working knowledge of communication protocols such as USB, RS-232, TTL, RS-485, I2C, SPI, JTAG, and IEEE-488(GPIB).
Working knowledge of fitness equipment resistance control and motor control theory a plus.
Familiarity with AC power and wiring (domestically and internationally).
Experience with standard MS Office applications; (Excel, Access, Project, Word), schematic capture (Orcad and Altium). Mechanical CAD a plus, (AutoCAD, Solidworks), VBA a plus.
