Description
This position is for a Embedded Software Engineer to work in the Transmission system and Software Team. The candidate would interact with machine & transmission application leads and software architects to plan, design, develop, test, and maintain software for transmission control systems on Caterpillar product lines. The candidate will be responsible to design and develop software, integrate common software libraries modules, integrate source code generated from a code generation tool, perform laboratory verification of software, and participate in system validation. The candidate will be responsible to develop and maintain transmission control software comprised of software written in C and autocode generated from Matlab.
Basic Qualifications
Requires a bachelor degree in an accredited Engineering or Computer Science curriculum plus 3 to 7 years of experience, or an advanced degree in an Engineering or Computer Science curriculum plus 2 to 6 years of experience
Top Candidates will also have
Four-year degree, BSEE, BSCpE, BSCS or equivalent is desired.
Candidates with BSME, BSAE and other four-year degrees with experience developing software will also be considered.
Experience in software development for real-time systems, C/C++ programming, Matlab/Simulink, real-time operating systems, and embedded software development tools and environments strongly preferred.
Candidate must have strong communication, project planning, teamwork, problem solving and analytical skills.
The candidate should have at least five years of demonstrated success developing and planning electronic control systems and/or embedded software for automotive, on-highway truck, or off-highway applications.
Experience developing embedded real-time software or systems for mobile, earthmoving, agricultural, industrial, and off-highway applications desired.
Experience in the application of data links such as CAN/J1939 for control and monitoring purposes is a plus.
Experience with the following software development tools is desired: ClearCase, git, Diab compiler, pOSEK, Matlab (The Mathworks) autocode generator, Notepad++ Editor, Understand code editor/code search tool, Lauterbach Debugger, ATI Vision, Vector tools, AutoSAR architect. Candidate should have a basic understanding of Control Systems, transmission systems and/or components, electronics components.
Candidate should be familiar with Agile Software Development.
Candidates familiarity with google test environment as well as test automation would be plus.
