This position is open to fully-remote candidates who can work from anywhere in the United States and Canada. Candidates also have the option to work from one of our office locations in Chicago or Toronto.

Vivid Seats is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead a highly skilled, cross-functional engineering team to build and deliver our industry-leading point of sales system for ticket brokers. As an Engineering Manager, you'll be responsible for making sure that the applications you own scale with our business and adhere to technical best practices and organizational standards. You'll work with business stakeholders and product owners to plan and deliver the software that manages and delivers millions of tickets each year. In addition to leading the team in day-to-day execution, you will play a role in hiring new engineers as well as carrying out performance management, coaching, and delivering feedback.
You'll develop, coach and retain engineers in a high-performance engineering team while participating in hiring initiatives to attract, screen and hire new engineering talent. Our Engineering Managers lead complex initiatives and act as the technical subject matter expert in software design, architecture, implementation, deployment, and support for all software development. We promote development best practices such as BDD, TDD, and pair programming in a fast-paced agile environment embracing accountability for all aspects of software development.
Leading a team at Vivid Seats, you'll stay up to date on new and emerging technologies, incorporate valuable concepts to enhance our applications, and continually improve the development environment.
To be successful, you'll need:
- A proven career in leading high-performing engineering teams, preferably in the ecommerce industry
- Experience establishing and managing both onshore and offshore teams
- Several years' experience building web or backend software solutions
- Experience with modern web frameworks such as React and Angular.
- Strong expertise with Object Oriented back end languages/technologies such as Java, Groovy, .NET, Scala
- A strong understanding of SQL and database technologies
- Customer facing or consulting experience with the ability to promote and secure platform adoption
- Experience in a fast paced, Agile, continuous integration environment
- Creativity, fearlessness, and an unwavering commitment to putting the customer first
