About the role

As the Internal Tools Frontend Engineer at Tovala, you will design, architect, and build tools that will help your future coworkers manage customer accounts, adjust food production quotas, run A/B tests in our mobile apps, and more. We pride ourselves on being a small and lean engineering team allowing each individual to make decisions and take ownership over their work. You’ll be part of this close-knit team as we continue building mission critical software systems and tools that enable Tovala to scale. You should be an engineer that’s excited to own the complete process from meeting with non-engineering stakeholders (marketing, culinary, customer service, …) to executing and releasing the code to make it happen.

Example tools you will own:

• Our customer management platform (written in React)
• Our meal management system (written in React)
• Small tools that help our operations team set meal quotas and manage automatic meal selections
• A tool that allows our culinary development team to run cook cycle tests on 20 ovens at one time
• Dashboards that let our hardware engineers debug our customers’ connected ovens remotely
• And new projects you will discover by meeting with teams

About you

• You have a 4-year degree in Computer Science or Engineering
• You have 3+ years of experience building and leading deployment of production software critical to specific aspects of a business
• You have outstanding engineering talent, shown by great results, cool side projects, or open source contributions
• You have experience building responsive applications with HTML and CSS and using modern browser technologies
• You have experience with React and Redux 
• You emphasize functionality over aesthetics when working with internal customers
• You are able to work independently and with others
• You are a strong communicator who likes to collaborate to find ways to build improvements that make the company more efficient
• You enjoy deep technical challenges and defining your own work
