Job Description

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Manages the system engineering resources and activities across one or more departments, functional or organizational areas.
  • Manages engineering resources focused on requirements of a department, project or program.
  • Mentors and motivates others, is a subject matter expert in one or more technical or operational areas.
  • Impacts cross functional issues, is known and sought out at a Regional or National level.
  • Leads the engineering efforts on typical projects and is expected to mentor assigned reports to perform this work.
  • Develops and leads implementation engineering support plan for new technologies and the most complex projects.
  • Manages operational and fiscal activities to include: staffing levels, budgets and financial goals.
  • Develops and establishes operational policies within area managed, and delegates assignments.
  • Facilitates cross-functional, inter-department collaboration.
  • Accountable for and contributes towards profitability and/or cost containment by indirectly impacting the P&L through project work, research and development, tools development or functional management.
  • Responsible for customer satisfaction and quality of engineering deliverables within the scope of assigned activities.
  • Responsible for productivity and professional growth of assigned employees.
  • Regularly interfaces with senior Motorola leadership, key internal/external organizations and governmental bodies. 
  • Coordinates activities and direction through highly matrixed relationships.

Qualifications:

  • A 4-year bachelor of science degree in an appropriate engineering discipline (a bachelor of applied science degree will NOT be accepted) from an accredited institution in the U.S. or a comparable foreign university, OR currently employed by Motorola in an exempt, engineering position
  • 8+ years of experience in a technical or engineering role
  • 3+ years of experience in a personnel management role

  • A 4-year bachelor of science degree in an appropriate engineering discipline (a bachelor of applied science degree will NOT be accepted) from an accredited institution in the U.S. or a comparable foreign university, OR currently employed by Motorola in an exempt, engineering position
  • 8+ years of experience in a technical or engineering role
  • 3+ years of experience in a personnel management role
