Information Security Engineer
Vail Systems is seeking an Information Security Engineer to further extend and protect an already highly secure environment. As an Information Security Engineer, you would act as the primary or backup maintainer of security tools and take ownership of systems hosting. This role is team oriented as you will collaborate with other highly technical data security, networking, systems administration, and software development staff.
The ideal candidate will have a data security background to identify, monitor, and validate security vulnerabilities in the network. The candidate will have knowledge of network and applications, operating systems, web applications, and scripting. The candidate ideally will be self-motivated, adaptable, and detail oriented.
What you’ll do:
- Work closely with other departments to assess the security posture of applications Vail develops and suggest actions for improvement.
- Participate in incident response and disaster recovery exercises.
- Learn new technologies and utilize and implement your newly acquired skills into Vail’s networks and systems.
- Perform system configuration auditing, vulnerability scanning, reporting, and validation with Qualys and Nessus.
- Review of security events from multiple IDSs, endpoint protection tools, cloud products, and SIEM.
- Investigate alerts and issues on Linux CLI and Windows servers.
- Assess the feasibility and best security practices of cloud and third-party applications.
- Assist team members and senior staff in designing and developing new security tools.
- Participate in the writing of reports on security assessments.
Minimum qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information/Cyber Security, or a related degree.
- 2+ years of experience in an Information Security role.
- Proficient in at least 2 of the skillsets listed in the section above.
- Experience working on diverse operating systems (Linux and Windows).
- Familiarity with networking equipment.
- Experience writing scripts.
- Knowledge of diverse security risks and how they impact the business.
Preferred qualifications:
- Security or Linux certifications such as, but not limited to CISSP, LFCE, LFCS, RHCSA, RHCE, Red Hat Certified Specialist in Security: Linux.
- Experience as a member of an incident response team.
- Experience with pen-testing tools such as, but not limited to Burp Suite and Metasploit.
- Knowledge of compliance frameworks such as PCI, HIPAA, NIST, etc.
