About the Position
An IT/Network Engineer, reporting to the engineering department, will guide and work alongside our Help Desk Engineer to maintain and address daily IT needs.
The ideal candidate has good technical knowledge of our IT stack and will be able to communicate effectively to understand problems and explain its solution. We are looking for a self-starter who can take an end user’s request and turn it into actionable tasks that can be refined, prioritized and parallelized across multiple engineers.
Responsibilities
Maintain daily support/performance of current IT environment:
○ Firewall and VPN: Palo Alto
○ Networking: Meraki switches and Wireless AP, Cisco Catalyst switches
○ Virtualization: VWare
○ Operating Systems: Apple OSX (majority), Windows, Microsoft 2012 R2 servers
○ Directory: Active Directory with group Policy and SAML/OAUTH
○ File Share: Microsoft file shares with DFS and AWS Storage Gateway
○ VOIP: 8x8
○ MFA: RADIUS for VPN authentication
○ Endpoint Protection: Sophos
○ Email, Docs, etc: Google
○ Ticketing: Zendesk
Create and improve documentation for IT environment and user facing processes such as VPN access
Troubleshoot hardware and software issues related to internal IT
Train users to promote self-sufficiency regarding IT support
Identify areas for improvement including targeted updates, automation, or replacement
Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems or a related field
3-5 years of experience working in IT
End-user focused
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong ability to prioritize in a changing business environment
Excellent working knowledge of computer systems, security, network and systems administration, and phone systems
Strong critical thinking, decision-making and problem-solving skills
Coding experience and an “automation mindset” is a plus
Knowledge of Linux system administration is a plus
