Lead DevOps and Site Reliability Engineer

We’re looking for our first Lead DevOps & Site Reliability Engineer who specializes in AWS develops, maintains, and supports our growing infrastructure and application development. In your role, you will provide strategic, innovative, and cost-effective solutions to increase efficiency, reliability, and integration of our services and operations.

What You’ll Bring to Buildout
- This is a highly valued role so you should have at least 10+ years of experience in infrastructure development and security in DevOps or SRE roles.
- You’ll have an entrepreneurial mindset which allows you to take your knowledge and experience and build a department the most efficient and effective way.
- You’ll be well versed in industry trends and best practices and have the ability to identify any trends and best practices we should implement.
- You should have experience with building and maintaining various AWS services, including EC2, S3, CloudWatch, Aurora (MySQL), Lambda, WAF.
- You should have strong experience with database technologies such as MySQL or Postgres. If you’ve used document stores like Mongo, that’s great too but it’s not required.
- It would be great if you had experience in the commercial real estate industry, experience building/maintaining ETL systems or experience working on our tech stack (Ruby on Rails, React, Javascript) but it’s okay if you don't, we're happy to help you learn.
- You’ll have strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to explain technical protocols and processes to other members of the team and to management.
What You’ll Do at Buildout
- You’ll work closely with the Director of Engineering to develop and drive the overall DevOps strategy and technical roadmap covering our entire AWS technology stack.
- You’ll create a culture of continual improvement following cloud best practices.
- You’ll provide the tools, infrastructure, process, and know-how to our software teams that will enable them to innovate and deliver with greater speed and safety.
- You’ll champion openness, diversity of opinions, and inclusive discussions at all times to evaluate a wide variety of ideas and perspectives in solving challenging problems.
- You’ll help to mentor and coach our software developers as well as participate in day-to-day infrastructure work.
Of course what is outlined above is your ideal day-to-day, but things may shift based on business needs and other projects and tasks could be added at the discretion of your manager.
