You will be part of the API Management team within Discover’s business technology area.  API management team support the full API life-cycle from creation, deployment, promotion and optimization of APIs on the provisioning (provider) side, as well as their discovery, acquisition and consumption by app developers and other API consumers.  The consumers include both Discover’s Internal and External partners.   Develops and maintains full stack solutions to fit business needs. Full stack solutions require one or more of the following: front-end (user interfaces), back-end (APIs), database and DevOps development. Works directly with business partners to understand business requirements. Works independently or with own team to innovate on and enhance development practices and processes.

What You’ll Do

• Develop and maintain full stack solutions to fit business needs ― full stack solutions require one or more of the following: front-end (user interfaces), back-end (APIs), database and DevOps development.
• Work directly with business partners to understand business requirements. Work independently or with own team to innovate and advocate for best practices within the team.
• Design complex solutions and lead them from inception to production within the Agile team.

How You’ll Do It

• Develop and maintain complex front-ends focused on user experience.
• Develop and maintain back-end systems.
• Work with key stakeholders to design complex solutions and lead from inception to production.
• Create and maintain DevOps processes, application infrastructure, and utilize cloud services (including database systems and models).
• Innovate on and advocate for best practices and improved team processes.
• Mentor junior team members.
• Support live systems to ensure business continuity.

Qualifications You’ll Need

The Basics

• Bachelor’s degree in information technology or related field
• 6+ years of experience in computer science, information technology or related field
• In lieu of degree, 8+ years of experience in computer science, information technology or related field

Bonus Points If You Have

• Working knowledge of Mulesoft, Drupal and Salesforce CRM preferred
• Hands on experience with Drupal CMS and PHP
• Web/Front end development skill, such as web site templating themes, CSS, and  java script
• Develop and deliver capabilities for API management, Web/API Portal, and business specific product/incubation needs.
• Development and delivery of UI/Web App/Java Script and API interfaces with the right tools and frameworks to support Discover’s developer portal
• Develop shared security policy snippets, platform APIs and language specific utilities, primarily in Java or Python.
• Understand and implement industry aligned security standards such as OAUTH and JWT and work with Enterprise Architecture to define shared solutions for broader consumption.
• Experience with Linux, shell scripting, python or bash scripting
