Lead Software Engineer

A Data Point Capital company in Chicago is looking for self-starters who are engaging, quick on their feet, and have strong business acumen. We need brains and passion to grow the business and to make it happen in style. This is an opportunity to get in at the ground floor and work with a small, collaborative team at a quickly growing company!

Our ideal candidate would have 7+ years of professional experience with 5+ programming using modern languages, be passionate about building robust back-end API integrations as well as have experience coaching and mentoring junior engineers.

We’re looking for a team member who is very comfortable with NodeJS as well as both relational and nonrelational databases.



This role reports directly to our CEO and will work primarily on the LGS REST API and automated workflows related to our integrations with various 3rd party APIs.


Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Build scalable solutions to store live stream data of customer interactions with our products on our own website as well as many 3rd party marketplaces.

  • Solve challenging business problems by removing manual work with automation by connecting our internal API with technology exposed by our partners.

  • Iterate on suite of internal ReactJS web applications.

  • Write unit tests to back the code you write.

  • Maintaining currently operating continuous integration pipeline.

  • Debugging complex server side issues as they arise.

  • Being part of an on-call schedule to handle infrequent urgent issues outside of normal operating hours.

  • Serve as team lead/manager to team of 2-3 engineers.



  • 5+ years experience programming in modern languages

  • Proficiency in a modern programming language preferably NodeJS.

  • Proficiency with either MySQL or DynamoDB.

  • Experience with modern API design and implementations.

  • Up-to-date with the latest web trends, techniques, and technologies.

  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.

  • Flexible and adaptable with the ability to work with integrated teams.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Information Systems

  • Backbone, Angular or React

  • AWS services

  • Continuous integration

  • Machine Learning

  • Salesforce

  • DevOps
