About Brideside

Brideside is reinventing wedding retail by providing a seamless and complimentary styling service for modern brides and their parties. We are powered by a team of style consultants who provide a concierge service to each bridal party - whether they shop online, in one of our showrooms, or with our Try at Home program.

At our core is our belief that bridal party styling should be completely stress-free and incredibly fun. We are dedicated to celebrating and supporting women and the female friendships that are at the heart of every bridal party.

We’re building a platform for the future of retail - one that focuses less on transactions and more on building authentic relationships with customers as they move between our physical stores, style consultants, and ecommerce platform.

What we’re looking for:

We have experienced rapid growth in the past few years and are looking for a Lead Software Architect to help evolve our architecture. We are looking for someone with the vision and experience to build a platform that spans physical + digital commerce, collaborative shopping, relationship management, and inventory and order management. We are looking for someone that knows when to build versus buy - someone that can build real innovation while leveraging the best out there for the commoditized bits.

At Brideside, we use the right tools for the job, always questioning and rebuilding core components of our platform to meet the innovation and scale demands of the future. As a leader of this team, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining these systems, as well as choosing the tools - Ruby, Go, Node, Python, etc. We’re looking for people with strong opinions around what you’re building and how it’s being built.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Head of Product on the ‘how’ of executing the next big things at Brideside
  • Design and maintain our selling platform - spanning Digital + Physical Commerce, CRM, order management, and data warehouse
  • Implement and monitor best practices in deployment
  • Hold the company accountable for the performance, scalability and security concerns in any product feature
  • Advise UX designers and product managers on feasibility, level of effort estimations, build vs buy decisions and more
  • Lead, mentor, and grow the engineers on staff as we build out our team
  • Maintain a high code and test quality bar for themselves and their team
  • Manage offshore and external development partners to increase velocity while not sacrificing quality

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s in computer science or Computer Engineering or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 6+ years of related full-time experience
  • Experience with integrating multiple platforms - from both a workflow and data perspective
  • Experience developing webservices in Ruby, Python, or Node
  • Experience in data engineering - designing data warehouses and analytics tooling
  • Experience in environments with multiple teams and distributed systems
  • A focus on consistent code style, full-coverage testing, team coding conventions, and separation of concerns
  • Experience working in an agile development environment
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills - you understand the efforts and problems of customers and colleagues alike, and work with everyone to understand the business limitations and market dynamics at play
  • Comfortable wearing a lot of hats but know when to ask for help

Nice to Have:

  • Experience developing front-ends in React / React Native
  • Familiarity with AWS as a platform (Kinesis, Lambdas, etc)
  • Experience contributing to shared devops concerns such as CI / CD and Docker
  • Experience with data visualization and analytics
  • Experience in startup environments, high growth companies, e-commerce/retail
  • Experience integrating with and extending platforms such as Shopify and Salesforce

Total Rewards Package:

  • Competitive compensation
  • Benefits package + unlimited PTO
  • A unique opportunity to be an early team member at a fast-growing e-commerce startup
  • A team of smart, unique, loyal and hilarious colleagues that you’d be hard pressed to find anywhere else
