The Technical Lead drives the Ahold-Delhaize (AD) eCommerce Business Systems domain applications by defining and advancing the strategic direction, features, innovation, and capabilities critical to (AD) eCommerce. This Landscape includes over 600 homegrown applications/webservices and numerous third-party applications. (AD) eCommerce supports over $30,000,000 in weekly sales on nearly 200,000 orders and plans to double this in the next two years. (AD) eCommerce supports over 600 curbside pickup locations, 38 fulfillment centers, and a large-scale distribution center. The Technical Lead is an expert across Business Systems products with the engineering knowledge of how the applications interact and the historical knowledge of why. The Technical Lead is also an expert in how all databases support these applications. This role partners with the Development Lead to evaluate opportunities, and to define business cases and ROI tied to strategic initiatives decided by the business. This role establishes processes and governance for evaluating roadmap priorities, and partners closely with various stakeholders to refine the roadmap.

- Passionate to stay ahead of the competition in features, functionality, usability (UI/UX), operational productivity, and application performance
- Act as a conduit between the Business and Development teams to ensure the best use of development resources.
- Identify all applications and processes that will be affected by business changes.
- In-depth knowledge of how databases and applications are connected. Especially when it comes to the business flow of orders, customers, and merchandising.
- Ability to take legacy systems and design a path for modernization while also removing unneeded logic streamlining the application.
- Be a leader during critical outages to guide the technical team to a quick and stable solution.
- Proactively monitor the pulse of day to day activities and detect possible issues before they arise.
- Identifies and provides strategic input on opportunities as it relates to our overall roadmap and growing the home delivery and pickup business
- Partners with the operations team and business peers to develop business cases and help define ROI
- Drives relationship and processes with business stakeholders and project managers to define, evolve and manage the digital roadmap
- Identifies necessary business processes enhancements to drive feature evolution forward and partners with stakeholders to effect business process change
- Ability to identify and drive forward new opportunity with integrated third-party relationships

- Acts as a top-level adviser to the IT Executive Lead and senior operations leaders, as well as a sounding board for ideas.
- Works as a partner with the Development leadership and coordinates the implementation of new features and changes across IT domain areas.
- Focuses on delivering a best-in-class experience and usability for the business
- Works closely with Project Managers on large cross IT and company projects
- Work closely with Customer Care to stay on top of current customer feedback
- Monitors Operations and Customer Care reports for trends and issues that can be solved with improvements to Business Systems
- This person must be skilled at building trust and consensus with the Leads of Development and their development staff. Must create visions and mutual respect so that others will follow in order to build great products. Gets the most out of the teams by inspiring them with the vision versus them being forced to.
- Seeing the big picture, removing hurdles, guiding the team, helping them see the end goal of a product, and following each member to help address their individual responsibilities is what makes a Product Manager good at his/her job.
- Should be at ease discussing product development and implementation with the technical teams as easily as discussing product strategy with the business stakeholders. While coding is not necessarily a needed skill, understanding the logic is important; while writing test scripts may not be a critical skill, understanding the test plan surely is. The same goes for understanding information architecture, design language, etc.
- Is a subject matter expert for the business systems (over 600 applications and web services) supporting Ahold Delhaize’s strategic eCommerce business.
- Proven Product Management leader - Strong interpersonal skills; presentation experience to small and large groups both internally and externally, and strong leadership presence
- Broad understanding of eCommerce business processes and interdependencies
- Experience in working with Development and UI teams
- High-level technical understanding (development methodologies, phases, etc.)
- Proven track record in working collaboratively across functional areas to drive results
The Essentials In Your Cart - The required ingredients
- 20+ years’ experience in eCommerce business systems
- 10+ years Payments, Customer Care, Transportation, eMerchandising
- 5+ years of experience in Product Management
- 5+ years Scrum Agile methodology
- Broad understanding of eCommerce business processes and interdependencies
- Experienced in working with Development and UI teams
- High-level technical understanding (development methodologies, phases, etc.)
- Proven track record in working collaboratively across functional areas to drive results
- Interact effectively with representatives from Technology and Business Partners
