Are you a hands-on engineer who thrives for more opportunities to get out of the office and on machines to operate, learn, test, and ultimately impact the quality that goes out to customers? If so, we have an excellent opportunity for you to join Earthmoving Division's Machine Controls Validation team as a Machine Controls Engineer. In this exciting role you will work with the latest technologies and ensure they are validated to Caterpillar's high-quality standards at the Caterpillar Peoria Proving Ground.
In this role you can expect to:
- Work with the latest technology (remote control, battery electric, and autonomy)
- Perform software validation by operating heavy equipment (and we'll teach you how)
- Collaborate with internal development teams to understand New Product Introduction (NPI) program content, develop validation plans, and report back issues as identified
To be successful in this role, you must bring (Basic Qualifications) :
- Experience with wireless infrastructure design and implementation
- Experience with CAN and Ethernet vehicle networks
- Strong analytical, communication and interpersonal skills
- Emphasis on initiative and self-starting tasks
Top candidates will also bring at least one of the following abilities and skills:
- Experience with J1939 and XCP communication protocols
- Experience with software validation tools (Azure DevOps, ALM / Quality Center)
- Experience with datalink tools: CANape, CANalyzer, Vehicle Spy
- Wired and wireless network configuration
- Troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, or software issues
Travel requirements will be less than 10%
