Litera is looking for a Software Engineering Manager to lead a team of software engineers that design and develop enterprise software. They will ensure that the team meets all performance metrics (CPU/memory usage, low defect rate, etc.), follows best practices, and delivers on schedule. Additionally, the manager reviews product requirements to validate technical feasibility, allocate resources, and help provide timelines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a software engineering team to develop software
  • Oversee and coordinate resources and processes required to deliver new or maintain existing software products
  • Work with department leaders to develop and execute strategic plans
  • Mentor team members and manage departmental issues including resource allocations and performance reviews
  • Improve standard operating procedures to ensure software development consistency
  • Work other members within the department in partnership with HR for the recruitment and talent identification process
  • Keep up to date with modern technologies that may be used by the team
  • Take a hands-on role in software development when needed. However, primary role is product scheduling and resource management

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of software development experience with 2+ years of management experience
  • 10+ years of experience with software development principles (object-oriented design, SOLID, etc.)
  • 8+ years of experience using a modern object-oriented language (example: C#, C++, or Java)
  • 4+ years of experience managing projects
  • Experience leading software development teams that deliver quality software
  • Comfortable giving feedback to team members and handling personal situations
  • Comfortable leading, making decisions, solving problems, and organizing work for a team
  • Ability to listen, resolve conflict, and negotiate with a high level of influence and professionalism
  • Proficient at business analytics and metrics gathering
  • Excellent at multi-tasking and able to handle competing priorities
