About the Role
As a Quality Assurance Manager/Team Lead, you will be responsible for day-to-day deliverables and overall QA/UAT methodology within the Morningstar Investment Management Technology teams. This role is hands-on, and requires aptitudes in planning, testing and defect tracking. The QA Manager is a primary advocate for quality assurance and leads the adoption of quality standards, leads a team of passionate QA automation engineers, while also creating test plans and test cases, performing sanity and regression tests, and triaging defects within our production environment. This is an ideal role for someone passionate about applying best practices to a complex software development lifecycle.
Job Responsibilities- Developing, refining and implementing a robust, reliable quality assurance methodology- Authoring test plans, test cases and test scenarios- Performing hands-on quality assurance within staging and production environments to ensure a high level of reliability and performance- Triaging and tracking defects within our software platform- Refining our automated testing methodology and software- Providing timely, solution-oriented internal support to reporters of defects- Interacting directly with the software development team through email, Slack, JIRA and our daily scrum meetings
Qualifications- Five years experience in QA, including at least two year managing other QA staff- Extensive functional / black box, performance and regression testing experience with complex software platforms- Experience developing rigorous customizable test plans and test cases, including reusable test patterns- Sound knowledge of QA methodologies and best practices within a web environment- Experience using a variety of defect management technologies (please specify when applying)- Familiarity with automated testing processes and technologies- Familiarity with Amazon Cloud- Familiarity with usability principles and web standards- An aptitude for breaking things- Good communication skills- Rigorous, analytical and methodological mindset toward problem solving
