As the Engineering Manager you will lead the Global Systems Engineering team. You will be responsible for leading operations, spearheading change, engaging with other groups and partners across the business, and developing the team.

 

You, as the manager of this critical team, are responsible for building, maintaining, and operating the tools which other Engineers throughout Groupon use to access production hosts and cloud services, to ensure compliance with federal, financial services and security requirements.

You’ll spend time on the following:

  • Lead the team in roll out and migration of new cloud technologies.

  • Direct engineering teams in day to day operations, maintaining a variety of technologies such as VMware, Windows Active Directory, Ansible, Commvault.

  • Lead, Identify and automate efforts to implement improvements for routine repetitive tasks to enhance service and integration.

  • Build in processes, as well as build and support systems that promote compliance with GDPR and SoX.

  • Own system Compliance, Identity and Access, embedding standard methodologies by driving the discussion and decisions of technical topics related to the team, and communicate incidents to impacted business partners.

  • Improve service stability and lead the integration of newly acquired companies.

  • Lead the Systems Engineering team at Groupon to ensure technologies and solutions related to user authentication rollout and service deployment including AWS identity and access management and Conveyor Cloud / Kubernetes.

  • Lead engagement with InfoSec and Internal Audit facilitating regular reviews of controls and automate were needed.

  • Lead the maintenance and support of legacy platform access control systems and tooling and authentication proxies.

  • Manage, coach, and mentor junior staff, and hire top talent to grow your team.

  • Participate in on call rotations as needed.

 

We’re excited about you if you have:

  • Bachelor's degree

  • At least 5 years working in an Engineering Operations role in a sizable corporate environment.

  • Proven track record of designing and maintaining access control systems using Linux, LDAP, Public Key Infrastructure and common authentication, authorization, and accounting (AAA) protocols with proven industry solutions.

  • A big plus if you have experience building and deploying AWS tooling and Kubernetes environments from the ground up.

  • Building controls for SOX, PCI and GDPR requirements.

  • Strong collaboration with both internal Engineering associates and business leaders.

  • A plus if you experience with python, bash, ruby and go

  • Experience working in a tiered support environment as an escalation resolver to ensure problem resolution.
