AlertMD is a 10-year old, profitable, fast-growing small company that uses data-driven applications and services to change how hospitals and healthcare providers do business. This position requires an appetite for learning new technologies, the ability to collaborate, and the motivation to self-organize.

As a back end software developer on our team, you will:

- Help shape the applications and UI tools that make health care providers more efficient

- Get your hands dirty in everything from our NodeJS based microservices, the data pipelines that power them, and the web and mobile user interfaces that present all of it

- Participate with team members to translate advanced business requirements into technical architectural design and implementation

- Develop on a software stack that includes NodeJS, MySQL, Elasticsearch, Redis, ReactJS, and more

- Work onsite at our office in the Loop, within walking distance of many public transportation options

Our ideal candidate will have:

- 3+ years of experience with NodeJS

- 3+ years of experience with ORM based database access

- Ability to ready and modify database schemas

- Understanding of back end engineering techniques (e.g. OOP, cache patterns)

- Knowledge of how to structure large NodeJS applications

- Ability to read and modify front end code when necessary

- Experience in setting up projects with Babel and the various loaders and plugins required

- Ability to think like the user in developing resilient code and aiding in interface design

- Eagerness to challenge existing paradigms to the betterment of the product and company

- Passion and self-motivation for learning new technologies

- Proficiency with Linux-based environments and tooling
