Walgreens is looking for a Mobile Platform Lead Developer to join one of the largest initiatives in our company, Pharmacy Renewal. The Walgreens Pharmacy Renewal efforts seek to design and build the largest, most advanced pharmacy infrastructure in the world from the ground up. Empowered to operate as an innovation center, this effort represents one of Walgreens most important programs at both global and local levels. US, UK and Italy based teams will be leveraging the most advanced and exciting technologies to build on Walgreens strategic vision to service the 13,100 plus pharmacy-led, health and wellbeing retails stores Worldwide.

Job Summary

• The Full Stack / Mobile Platform Lead Developer will be primarily responsible for Web and Mobile design, execution and delivery of exploratory concepts, rapid prototypes, and pilot solutions designed to test hypothesis and incubate transformative new capabilities.
• Work with various teams such as user experience, business, 3rd party vendors, back-end teams, and other internal and external stakeholders.
• Activities include strategy and development of mobile or native apps while working on an agile team and leading partner and in-house development team, adhering to delivery excellence for execution and lifecycle management.
• Key responsibilities include implementation of client interfaces and back-end services to support them according to design reference documents or modify existing assets to fit requirements;
• Working with architect and team to perform high level/low level design/architecture; progressing codebase thorough various environments; implementing or adopting Enterprise’s Continuous Deployment and Integration; interacting with iOS directly or Android’s or iOS’s native functionality through Cordova/Ionic; performing automated Unit Testing and Integration Testing;
• Packaging apps for deployment to App Stores; development of back-end components that serve as an integration/translation layer between mobile apps and Enterprise services; leading Mobile and Web based technology explorations execution, including: rapid prototype architecture and design, build, assemble, test, pilot ; document and articulate solution architecture and lessons learned for each exploration and accelerated incubation.
• Encouraging new transformative thinking, trail blazing, and facilitate imagination and ideation sessions; maintaining current knowledge of technology landscape and emerging developments.
• Employing practical approach to incubation and eventual platform integration; diving and orchestrating external partner or vendor collaboration to satisfy the needs of any given exploration; working with dedicated Innovation team and with various other Product and Enterprise teams to execute explorations as part of accelerated incubation of new capabilities and ensuring alignment.
• Knowledge transfer and transition of proven concepts and incubated capabilities to Product and to the Enterprise teams across Walgreens Boots Alliance for productization and scaled up operationalization.

The effort will encompass the entire software development life cycle from requirements to deployment and this role is expected to collaborate with the team on bringing new ideas and approaches on Agile, Continuous Integration and leading edge practices. This role requires an imaginative mind set and a creative leader with substantial hands-on experience in utilizing, exploring and adopting emerging technologies to build viable and innovate prototypes and solutions. The successful candidate will be experienced and successful with innovation and taking advantage of emerging trends and technologies to test hypotheses, prove feasibility, viability and fail fast.

Job Responsibilities

• This position works on complex projects and leverages its knowledge of applications development methodologies, hardware characteristics, and other technologies to produce comprehensive solutions, within the agreed quality, service commitment levels, schedules and budgets. This position may provide coaching to less experienced developer or review some aspects of their technical output
• Leads the daily work of the project team responsible for writing code and scripts for desired functionality of web-based software, products and programs
• Materially updates and develops new front-end applications and tools.
• Performs as subject matter adviser to functional area and may become actively involved, as required, to meet schedules and resolve problems highly complex in nature.
• May develop the technical “vision” and design specifications of assigned projects and may lead in implementation.
• Writes code and scripts that provide desired functionality to the web-based software, typically for sites, products and programs that have little or no precedent.
• Ensures that software and program defects in assigned projects or programs are tracked and summarizes and presents findings to management.
• Shares information cross-functionally to improve workflow processes. Interacts with internal and external peers and management to share highly complex information related to areas of expertise and/or to gain acceptance of new or enhanced technology / business solutions.
• Gathers and updates necessary information and communicates to appropriate parties.
• Participates in the development of technical/business approaches and new or enhanced technical tools.
• Provides subject matter expertise to less experienced team members. May allocate and tracks the work of individual contributors. Participates in teaching and training members of work team.
• Mentors less experienced members of the team.
• May assist in live site support and incident resolution that may include on-call rotation.
