Molecular Technologist, Extraction Lead
With the advent of genomic sequencing, we can finally decode and process our genetic makeup. We now have more data than ever before but providers don't have the infrastructure or expertise to make sense of said data. Here at Tempus, we believe the greatest promise for the detection and treatment of cancer lies in the deep understanding of molecular activity for disease initiation, progression, and efficacious treatment based on the discovery of unique biomarkers.
What you’ll do:
- Work with a cutting-edge genomics workflow to provide high-quality next-generation sequencing data with rapid turnaround times in a clinical laboratory
- Performs routine testing, quality control, calibration, maintenance and proficiency testing in accordance with current laboratory procedures
- Perform complex molecular-based procedures with a high degree of quality and in accordance with established protocols
- Act as lead trainer for the nucleic acids extraction team. Should have availability to perform training across all shifts (AM, PM, weekend)
- Implement strong continuous improvement in the extraction workflow
- Work to maintain CLIA/CAP compliance for equipment, reagents, and all lab processes
Qualifications:
Must have:
- Four (4) years experience (with at least one year in molecular pathology)
- Bachelor of Science in medical technology, clinical laboratory science, chemical, physical or biological science
- Excellent communication skills
- Thrives in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work with others to plan and carry out scientific programs
- Self-driven and works well in an interdisciplinary team with minimal direction
- Strong desire to build products that will save lives and change the course of cancer
- Impeccable attention to detail
Highly Desirable:
- Experience with next-generation sequencing
- Work in a CLIA/CAP high-complexity laboratory
- Experience with robotics and automated liquid handling systems
- Knowledge of LIMS platforms and various computer systems
