ABOUT THE ROLE

Interior Define is seeking a new Developer to play a key role in expanding our brand story by joining our Headquarters in Chicago. We are looking for a passionate individual who is excited to grow, innovate and disrupt the home furnishings industry through a transformative experience.

The ideal candidate is eager to help us expand our brand, and to create a unique customer experience that far exceeds the uninspired, traditional furniture buying process. We are a fast-growing, start-up reinventing the way people shop for custom furniture (beginning with sofas).

RESPONSIBILITIES
 

• Partnering with our Director of Engineering on maintaining and improving our technology infrastructure
• Architect new features, improve existing features
• QA other developers code
• Working cross functionally, with all departments of Interior Define 
• Taking ownership of your code, knowing when to ask for help and seek feedback
• Ability to self manage; we are a small team and need someone who is driven and resourceful as an individual as much as they are collaborative and a team player 

ABOUT THE CANDIDATE

We are seeking a highly motivated individual who is excited about growth with the following credentials:
 

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or comparable experience
• 2-4  years experience in OOP environment
• Strong PHP Development Skills
• Proficient in modern Javascript frameworks
• Understand the benefits (and drawbacks) of Service Oriented Architecture
• Must be a strong communicator able to prioritize and manage work to adhere to critical project timelines
• A creative problem-solver and great communicator—in person, over email, Slack, Trello, Google Docs, etc.
• Startup experience, ideally in an e-commerce environment
• Understand the importance of user centered design 
• Experience using project management tools like Jira, Trello, Asana etc.
   

Great to have
 

• Project management experience.
• Magento 1.x experience
• Experience with an MVC like Laravel
• Experience with hosting environments (AWS, Rackspace, etc.)
• Experience with Shopify or any other popular ecommerce platform.
• Passion or curiosity for interior design and furniture.
