About the job:

divvyDOSE is seeking a Platform Engineer - Release to help build and maintain the cloud-native platform upon which our main pharmacy application is developed and run. As a senior member of the Platform Engineering team, you will have the opportunity to collaborate with software engineers focused on developing multiple areas of our product as well as the platform itself. We believe that releases should be easy, reliable, and frequent and that issues should be swiftly identified, mitigated, and learned from. Above all, we believe in empowering all of our engineers through good DevOps practices; on the Platform Engineering team, your focus will be on crafting an environment that is a joy for engineers to build upon.


Responsibilities

  • Advocate for DevOps best practices at divvyDOSE.
  • Collaborate with engineering stakeholders to understand and address common engineering pain points related to Release Engineering and advocate for best practices.
  • Analyze and advocate for release pipeline improvements and standards.
  • Identify areas where existing tooling is insufficient and build or integrate new tools, practices, and/or patterns to close these gaps.
  • Develop and maintain platform level tools, libraries, and/or infrastructure related to the following areas:
    • Release Pipeline Architecture and tooling
    • CI / CD pipelines and other release infrastructure
    • Monitoring, alerting, logging, and other observability practices
    • Testing and QA efforts
    • Networking configuration
    • Security and auditability
    • Performance and Reliability
  • Participate in humane on-call rotations.
  • Contribute and maintain documentation related to core development, deployment, and standards.
  • Train and mentor engineers to use and adopt new tools and best practices produced by your team.

Requirements

Required Skills

  • 2+ years experience focused on automation/tooling.
  • Demonstrated software development skills.
  • Demonstrated experience with Infrastructure as Code (preferably for AWS infrastructure).
  • Experience with version control systems and their role in release management.
  • Experience with CI/CD technologies (Jenkins, CircleCI, Bamboo, BitBucket).
  • Willingness to dig deep on problems and see through the resolution.
  • Proficiency in one or more of Python/Golang/Ruby
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Desired Experience in One or More of the Following Areas

  • Containerized services
  • Maintaining Linux environments, including applying software patches
  • Experience with serverless / function-as-a-service development
  • Experience working with modern end-to-end test automation technologies
  • Solid understanding of cloud-based development patterns and deployment strategies
  • Experience developing with serverless frameworks (Python/Go runtimes preferred).
  • Networking experience/knowledge of common topologies and their tradeoffs.

Our engineering office is in River North in the famous Mies van der Rohe building with breathtaking views of Lake Michigan and the Chicago River.
