Platform Support Engineering Manager
About the Role
The transportation industry has no shortage of complex problems requiring creative solutions to scale efficiently. In this role you will build and lead a small team to support operations and engineering teams to build world class cloud based applications.
Responsibilities
- Build and manage a team of experts on the MasterMind application that will work to support Mastery’s customers and internal product, and engineering teams
- Work with the Cloud Engineering team to build and maintain core infrastructure pieces supporting the MasterMind application
- Organize and participate in the on-call rotation to respond to MasterMind availability incidents and provide support to software and cloud engineers
- Hold team responsible for building monitoring and alerting that trigger on symptoms and not on outages
- Review team documentation of every response to incidents so findings turn into repeatable actions, and then into automation
- Debug production issues across teams, services and levels of the stack
- Understand our 3rd party integrations inside and out to monitor and troubleshoot issues outside of MasterMind’s control
- Complete an operational audit of our existing services for high availability, compliance, and security
- Build out controls to define and enforce least privileged access to the MasterMind application and infrastructure stack
- Consolidate Mastery’s monitoring, alerting and log aggregation capabilities onto the right tools for our application stack
- Develop and maintain strong working relationship with Product and Engineering to define their SLAs and communicate them to the organization
- Review existing metrics for key indicators of performance and availability
Requirements
- Previous successful leadership experience
- Experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP cloud computing
- Experience with at least one programming language
- Experience with Nginx, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, Git or similar technologies
- Experience with SQL, RDBMS, and NoSQL technologies
- Experience building highly available systems with multi-region data replication
- Know your way around Linux and the Unix Shell
