Caterpillar's Medium Tractors play a key role in helping our customers build a better world and we have a great opportunity for you to join the team that makes this happen! As a Powertrain Oil (PTO) System Engineer on the Medium Tractor Engineering team, you will solve complex, global technical problems, design the PTO system including sizing of pumps, filters, system schematic, lines sizing and design for the D6-D8 tractors and pipelayers. You will be responsible for the line design, mounting groups, clipping, brackets and groups associated with the PTO system installation. In addition, you will collaborate with production facilities in relation to end of line test processes and data analysis.
As the Powertrain Oil System Engineer, you will:
- Create concepts and designs to solve complex engineering projects
- Utilize Creo to create highly integrated designs within the machine platforms.
- Participate in the NPI design, CPI and maintenance deliverables for the PTO Team
- Work on meeting Cost/ Time/ Quality goals on NPI projects and machine platforms.
- Provide Build Support but resolving shop, supplier and end-customer issues in the field.
- Provide build support; address assembly, supplier and field issues
- Develop end of line test procedures and data analysis tools.
To be successful in this role, you must bring (Basic Qualifications) :
- A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in an Engineering curriculum.
- At least 2 years' experience in Design or Test.
- Fluid components and systems knowledge preferably in Track Type Tractors
- Strong Collaboration skills, ability to work with a global team including the flexibility to occasionally participate in early morning or late evening meetings with partners in France, Brazil, India, Thailand in addition to the United States.
Top Candidates Will Also Bring (Desired but not required) :
- Knowledge of Powertrain and Transmission Systems
- Demonstrated strong commitment to Caterpillar Product Development.
- Experience with NPI, CPI, SharePoint, Cost, and Teamcenter tools/process.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in Creo or other modeling or simulation tools, particularly Dynasty.
