The Principal Cloud Engineer will be working closely with DFS Finance business partners and other Architects within Business Technology department to develop cloud-native infrastructure and automation solutions as code. The candidate will be expected to develop, test & operate reusable infrastructure as code patterns in addition to providing support to the internal engineering, infrastructure, & IT teams to continuously improve & automate our analytics architecture. Strong understanding of Finance business processes is a plus, DW technical infrastructure and BI tools will be very valuable in this position. Given the need for providing solutions that meet the needs of unique business opportunities with Finance, the candidate must possess strong problem solving skills and should be capable of defining and articulating technical architecture, and providing the necessary guidance to other technical teams to implement the solution.

Our current tech stack includes AWS, Terraform, Linux, Chef, Docker, Kubernetes, Mesos/Marathon, Spring, Angular, Node.js, Java 8, Python and Scala.

Responsibilities

  • Primary responsibility is to deliver DW and BI solutions that exceed business expectations in content accuracy, reliability and performance
  • Conceptualize and execute Proof of Concept to verify/validate complex business issues or review new tools and technologies
  • Lead discussion with the business on new business opportunities/requirements and lead requirements gathering for large DW projects
  • Provides thought leadership in DW schema and database performance tuning. Additionally, understands how the front-end reporting tool influences these aspects
  • Develop/enhance the DW and BI technical standards
  • Support project teams on design and development of processes required to extract, transform, cleanse, and load the data into DW and data marts as necessary
  • Work with other team members in troubleshooting and assuring quality of the DW
  • Work to design and build tools and automation scripts that enable data scientists and business analysts to easily consume cloud-native services
  • Technical point of contact for product teams as it relates to automation, CI/CD, and other infrastructure teams
  • Developing secure design patterns for analytics architectures deployed in the public cloud and/or orchestrated container environments.
  • Build automation to actively audit the infrastructure for misconfigurations

Skills:
Minimum Qualifications

At a minimum, here’s what we need from you:

  • Minimum of 7 years’ experience in the field of Information management
  • Strong technical expertise on DW platforms
  • Hands on experience with AWS services such as VPC, EC2, RDS, IAM, KMS, Lambda, CloudTrail, CloudWatch, Dynamodb, SNS, SQS, and S3 (Experience with analytics tools (SAS, R, Scientific Python, H2o a plus)
  • Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code, Immutable Infrastructure, & continuous integration/deployment practices
  • Proficient in at least one programming language (Python, Java, Scala, Javascript)
  • Experience in version control systems such as Git, GitLab, etc.
  • Experience administering & hardening Linux systems
  • Familiarity with technical challenges associated with containers and distributed systems with a focus on analytics research environments.
  • Experience with analytics tools (SAS, R, Scientific Python, H2o)
  • Willingness to continuously learn & share learnings with others
  • Excellent presentation skills, capable of effectively presenting ideas/solutions to all levels in the organization
  • Highly organized, capable of effectively managing competing priorities, and delivering on business results

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, or related field
  • Strong knowledge of Financial Services industry with the focus on Finance/Treasury business domain
