Job Description
ServiceNow's Traffic team is seeking experienced software engineers to build systems for balancing and managing application traffic.
Our Traffic team builds load balancers, RPC frameworks, and the automation infrastructure that's required to operate ServiceNow's HTTP traffic. We glue varied network services together in order to orchestrate the delivery of bits from our servers to you. The Traffic team owns and operates all traffic management for ServiceNow.
What you get to do in this role:
- Develop HTTP stacks to run on varied devices and servers
- Implement and integrate next-generation protocols like HTTP2 and QUIC
- Collaborate with Network Engineering teams to design and build our next-generation load balancing infrastructure
- Design load balancing software to optimize traffic flow between data centers
- Analyze and improve efficiency, scalability, and stability of network infrastructure and rich telemetry data
- Ensure connectivity to the ServiceNow Cloud is highly reliable
- Conduct design and code reviews
Qualifications
To be successful in this role you have
- 5+ years of experience developing HTTP, SSL, TCP services on Linux with one of the following languages C++, Go, or Python
- 5+ years of experience developing and debugging system level services in C, C++, Python, or Java, particularly on Linux
- 5+ years of experience with one or more of: telemetry data, filesystems, concurrency, multithreading, server architectures, distributed systems
- Experience replacing network hardware devices with software services
- Experience developing and debugging networking protocols (HTTP, SSL, QUIC, and TCP)
- Understanding of routing protocols and load balancing technologies like NGINX a plus

Flexible
A flexible work persona is defined as an employee who is contracted to work from or aligned to a ServiceNow-affiliated office and will work from their assigned workplace location roughly 3 days/week or less (generally around 40-60% of the work week). Flexible employees may choose to work the remaining working time from their workplace location or home. Flexible employees are required to work within their state, province, region, or country of employment.
Remote
A remote work persona is defined as an employee who performs their responsibilities exclusively outside of a ServiceNow workplace and is not contracted or aligned to a ServiceNow-affiliated office, including those whose place of work (pursuant to their terms and conditions of employment) is their home. Remote employees are required to work within their state, province, region, or country of employment.
