Lead Software Engineer

The Role

Paro is an AI enabled technology company. The exponential revenue growth that Paro has experienced in the last few quarters has been enabled by AI. Paro is hiring a Lead Software Engineer to join our dedicated technology team. The Lead Software Engineer will work directly with a Product Manager while driving the department forward on organizational solutions to scale platform, billing, and product performance. You will also be responsible for working on outlining & defining deliverables from an engineering standpoint.
The ideal candidate will enjoy solving complex puzzles and will have prior experience in leading engineering teams within start-ups or similar functioning firms. This person will be an expert in collaborating across functional teams, and has experience working with a modern tech stack that includes Javascript, Node, and AWS.

Core Responsibilities Include:

• Working alongside the engineering team on code reviews, interactive brainstorming, architectural planning & more
• Designing & building out a roadmap that will allow our experts to work efficiently within the billing platform
• Incorporating machine learning algorithms that improve pricing, platform performance, and more.
• Figuring out what AWS capabilities we should (and shouldn’t) use as we grow
• Heading off issues before they occur through proactive instrumentation & system metrics
• Addressing system problems in real-time and then build out the tech so they don’t happen again in the future
• Mentoring other team members and engineers at Paro, helping to define their career growth and trajectory

How You’ll Add Value:

• 5+ years of relevant experience leading engineering efforts for small to mid-size applications
• BS degree in computer science, computer engineering, or relevant degree preferred 
• Strong knowledge and expertise with Typescript, Node & GraphQL 
• AWS certifications are a plus.
• Prior experience in fast-paced start-ups or similar functioning firms 
• Self-starter with the ability to clarify unclear requirements by asking the right questions
• Intellectually curious, striving to understand how the world works
