SpotOn is a cutting-edge software company dedicated to redefining the merchant services industry. SpotOn combines payment processing with customer engagement and business management solutions, giving small and medium businesses the data and tools they need to run and grow their business.

Our tools increase revenue and connect businesses with their customers using rewards, deals, online reviews, website building, and data analytics. Tools like these were previously only available to big businesses with big bankrolls and their own developers, but our platform caters to neighborhood stores, independent retailers, and other small to mid-size businesses. We have our service deployed in many cities across the U.S. and Mexico.

The Payment and Financial Data team is looking for a software engineer with Python 3 and SQL skills. Our team processes, aggregates, and reconciles our merchants' credit card, cash, and other transaction data. We look to streamline our data-ingestion infrastructure, as well as take advantage of what modern data-processing and storage tech has to offer. We want to make our code simpler — and have less code overall — through judicious use of sophisticated and reliable technologies.

If this describes you:

3+ years of real-world experience with Python 3:

•    Follows most of PEP-8

•    Experience building and consuming APIs that drive complex systems

•    Solid grasp of asynchronous and distributed programming in Python

RDBMS/SQL skills:

•    Designed application or warehouse databases before

•    Knows various types of indexes and when to use them

•    Is familiar with the strengths and behaviors of various SQL data types

•    Can write intermediate-level SQL by hand

Bonus!

•   Designed an ETL system, especially in the payments, banking or trading industries

•   Has experience using message queues

•   Is comfortable with modern Linux distributions

•   Knows a thing or two about AWS offerings, like RDS, SQS, lambdas, S3.
