 Job Summary

The Python Engineer is a tier 3 operational support engineer responsible for fixing software defects and delivering new features that executes on product vision and business scalability.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Develop and support python services and applications witten on the Django platform.
• Serve as a point of escalation for Omega tickets and other tier 2/tier 3 support issues
• Support Internal Operations teams by running scripts in production to assist in business as usual activities.
• Report on configuration and settings
• Running data repair, update scripts (updating title configuration, updating pricing, etc)
• Perform code level analysis on omega ticket issues to determine root cause (bug vs user configuration)
• Document bugs for engineering teams & creating tickets in the appropriate team’s backlog. 
• Document configuration issues and work with customer support in building a functional knowledge base.
• Build and enhance functionality critical to the success of the business
• Work as a team to deconstruct and tackle stories
• Take on stories and drive them to completion with little to no oversight
• Engage in Agile Scrum to ensure your team is always experimenting and improving their development and planning practices
• Ensure that customer-facing UX is accessible to all supported devices and user accessibility needs (WCAG 2.0, Section 508, ADA, etc)
• Lead by example

Requirements

• 3+ years of software development experience
• 1+ years of experience developing the front-end and back-end of complex, product-focused codebases
• Real-world experience developing with Python, preferably with the Django framework
• Proven track record of building successful full-stack applications, products, or platforms
• Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills

Other Desirable Skills/Experience

• Experience building ADA-compliant or WCAG 2.0-compliant interfaces
• Knowledge and appreciation of the advances in higher educational software, course materials, and digital publishing is a plus
• Background and/or experience in educational technology and/or publishing
• Ideal candidate is self-sufficient and highly motivated, self-directed and possesses high energy and a passion for RedShelf’s mission
