Your Challenge: QA Engineer in an agile team is responsible for more than just testing the software. They will act as a quality champion across the full SDLC and empower team members to create highly performant and secure systems. They act entrepreneurially to try find what might not work, and ensure it is caught and resolved before release. They leverage a combination of automated and manual testing to efficiently cover the system’s functionality without compromising quality. They are comfortable working in a constantly changing work environment and are fully dedicated to “automate everything” principle.

 

The things that you will tackle:

  • Ensure every feature developed by the team is tested
  • Participate in user story refinement with the scrum team to ensure high quality stories
  • Blend automated and manual testing to efficiently cover the system’s functionality without compromising quality
  • Manage time effectively to maximize value to the team
  • Document test results for the team with detailed information on any defects found, and help the Scrum Master and Product Manager to prioritize defects
  • Strive to automate and maintain comprehensive test suites with a continuous improvement mindset
  • Work with DevOps engineers to run tests in production environments after deployment to ensure quality
  • Know the product vision and works closely with the designers and the Product Manager to translate their vision into testable feature definitions
  • Partner with development teams to identify and mitigate key areas of risk in new solutions
  • Stay current with industry best practices and standards on testing
  • Actively participate in scrum ceremonies as needed to provide clarifications and problem solve with the team

What you will need to be successful:

  • Experience as an exploratory/ hands-on tester with multiple platforms and testing techniques
  • Experience with manual acceptance testing at story level, exploratory, and creative testing
  • Experience in software testing environment for web-based and mobile applications
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Skilled at finding hidden requirements, edge cases, and a “desire to break” attitude
  • Experience implementing automated end-to-end tests, experience with frameworks and tools such as BDD, Cypress and the ability to code in JavaScript
  • Ability to develop integration, performance, and load bearing tests

What else could help you be successful:

  • Diverse understanding of quality methodologies, tools, processes, and best practices across the software development lifecycle
  • Experience developing unit tests in JavaScript using frameworks such as Jest
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, etc) and integration of test automation in pipelines
