ABOUT FARMER'S FRIDGE

At Farmer's Fridge, we believe it should be easy for everyone to get delicious, nutritious food in a hurry. We source the best ingredients we can find, and bring them to our kitchen in Chicago's Fulton Market. Every night we chop, roast, mix, and shred everything by hand, creating tasty salads, meals, and snacks that we deliver daily to our growing network of citywide Fridges. Chances are good there's a Fridge near you right now, stocked full of good stuff, waiting to serve you something tasty with a few taps of a touchscreen. If you're passionate about our mission and about giving our customers a great experience, keep reading!

What you are:

A detail oriented, operations-minded, QFS professional. People often describe you as someone who solves problems before they happen. You are patient, analytical, and obsessed with ensuring product perfection.

You approach every issue as an opportunity to collaboratively problem solve, but are also comfortable holding the line on non-negotiables. You excel at communicating the "why" not just the "what" to ensure understanding and buy in to the importance of quality and safety. You have experience managing and leading a team and growing a culture of quality and safety within a food production environment.

Oh, and also, you love fresh food (and all the challenges that go with it) and are demonstrably passionate about our mission to improve people's lives through 24/7 access to food you can trust!

What you are not:

Territorial or defensive (big egos need not apply!). Rigid or unwilling to explore new ways of doing things – we are building a business no one has ever built before. Afraid to get your hands dirty – we are scrappy and humble, "that's not my job" is never something you will hear.

You will:

  • Ensure all product leaving our facility meets or exceeds food safety and quality standards: sign off all CCPs, perform daily GMP audit, allergen changeover, WIP and finished product inspection
  • Document non-conformance & food safety holds, and review with facility leadership
  • Maintain and continually review the effectiveness of all relevant safety programs including physical hazard, HACCP plans, allergen separation, hold and release, etc
  • Implement QFS corporate policies to help facility achieve SQF L2 certification
  • Maintain and update environmental monitoring programs (pathogen and indicator swabs, air and water monitoring)
  • Support adherence to culinary product standards for new and existing products, and help troubleshoot customer concerns
  • Monitor/verify sanitation program to ensure it meets all standards
  • Manage QFS technicians
  • Train employees on new and existing food safety & quality SOPs

You have:

  • Bachelor's degree in food science/food safety relevant field, master's degree preferred
  • 5-10 years' experience in a food manufacturing facility is a must (preferrably in fresh produce industry)
  • Fully educated and aware of food safety regulations (Dairy, Juice, Seafood HACCP & FSMA etc.)
  • Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.
  • SQF practitioner, PCQI and HACCP certified
  • Excellent verbal, and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills

Icing … Or just the cake

  • Traditional Benefits – Health, Dental, Vision, Life, Short Term Disability, LTD, 10 Paid Holidays and Paid Time Off.
  • Daily credits for food in our Fridge
  • Monthly Cellphone Bill Credit.
  • Fantastic Team – You will get to work with a phenomenal and passionate team that is constantly pushing the market boundaries to make healthy food accessible 24/7.
  • Clarity Breaks – We absolutely encourage you to step away from your routine to reflect on your work strategy and top priorities.
  • Monthly Yoga Classes –You can participate every month in our office yoga class in order to relax, meditate and stretch your body.
  • Volunteering Opportunities – We love to engage with our community and participate in events that are aligned with our Core Values.
  • Sports Leagues – Another way our employees engage with the community that fuels teamwork and collaboration with a healthy dose of competition.
  • Spontaneous Events – Solar eclipse event at the park? We're there. Daybreaker party at the Planetarium? Count us in. Taste of Chicago impromptu get together? Absolutely! We are constantly scoping nearby events to give our team a break from our unconventional routine.
