As a Cloud/SaaS provider of industry-leading Talent Activation/Human Resources software, our ability to consistently and accurately deliver a quality product is crucial. As a Security Engineer you will be an integral part of the team responsible for insuring the security of SilkRoad's data as well as our customer's data. An understanding of industry standards around data/information security and a willingness to learn new things is key to success in this role. Strong communication skills as well as a desire to get your hands dirty are key attributes of a successful candidate for this role. You will be called on to understand where SilkRoad is today in terms of Information and Data Security, where we need to go as we grow and how we need to get there. 

Responsibilities:

All employees of SilkRoad are expected to use good business judgment and appropriate discretion and decision making while performing responsibilities of the position. We rely on our employees to be thinkers not just doers.

  • Perform daily health checks as documented by the IT Security team.
  • Support the Security team by documenting and performing support tasks.
  • Participate in change management, incident management, audit and business continuity processes.
  • Planning and implementing security policies and procedures to protect computer systems, networks and data from unauthorized access.
  • Participate in internal and external compliance (SOC 2) audits.
  • Recommend security enhancements.
  • Train and educate SilkRoad staff regarding security awareness and policies.

Required Skills

  • Must be familiar with standard security concepts, practices and procedures.
  • Knowledge of Windows operating systems.
  • Strong Documentation, communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Results driven, highly engaged professional; uses discretionary effort to meet/exceed desired results in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Skills:

  • Knowledge of security toolsets (Crowdstrike Falcon, Qualys, Sophos, SumoLogic, & Cisco technology).
  • Knowledge of compliance activities (GDPR, SOC 2, ISO:27001).
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Azure cloud security.
  • Professional IT security certifications (Security+, CISSP, CISM, GSEC).
  • Knowledge of database security (MSSQL).
  • Knowledge of SIEM technology and security event correlation and monitoring (SumoLogic).
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure.

Required Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in computer science, mathematics, Information Systems or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of hands-on IT Security & Audit experience.
