Summary:

Responsible for requirements gathering, application analysis, development, and support of the BPM Appian system within OCC. This position includes, but is not limited to, the following key tasks:
• Work with process owners to identify process specific application needs.
• Gather specific business requirements.
• Develop approach to deliver the identified business needs.
• Develop applications to meet the specifications of the process needs.
• Support the Appian system to deliver results when needed.
 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Acts as an expert technical resource to the development staff in all phases of the development and implementation process.
  • Acts as an expert technical resource to the development staff in all phases of the development and implementation process.
  • Provide leadership and highly technical consultation in identifying and implementing new uses of information technologies that assist the functional business units in meeting their strategic objectives.
  • Analyzes business requirements to develop functional and non-functional system requirements
  • Develop approach to deliver agreed upon business requirements
  • Aids analysis and design activities based on SOA paradigm
  • Enforces Appian development best practices
  • Works closely with OCC information technology teams to integrate the Appian system with other existing platforms
  • Develops Appian applications and integrates to production platform using Java and web technologies
  • Creates supporting SDLC / technical documentation. (E.g. Writes detailed design model in UML and written specification documentation)
  • Works as a member of the BPM team, and coordinates with all team members to address customer requests
  • Responsible for delivery activities using Appian BPM, including Java/J2EE/DB application development
  • Familiar with Appian plug ins, including rules engines
  • Plans, conducts, and coordinates programming application activities.
  • Writes business applications computer software that contains logical and mathematical solutions to business problems or questions
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Experience with Appian Process Modeling, Smart Services, Rules and Tempo event services
  • Extensive experience in using Appian Smart Services for Database and Web services
  • Ability to learn and implement Java frameworks like Spring, Hibernate and develop Webservice/RESTful services
  • Experience with Agile methodology
  • Ability to interact with various departments to successfully collect needed information to complete analysis efforts.
  • Proactive in identifying risks and proposing solutions
  • Ability to plan/manage/prioritize work to meet objectives of multiple or competing projects

Technical Skills

  • Appian Process Modeling, Smart Services, Rules and Tempo event services, database, and  Web services
  • Ability to learn and implement java frameworks like Spring, Hibernate and develop Webservice/RESTful services
  • Experience designing data models for complex applications
  • Expertise with database tools and concepts including tables, views, stored procedures, triggers, and reporting
  • Microsoft Office Suite

Education and/or Experience

  • Technology related bachelor’s degree, or degree in business with heavy technology experience
  • At least eight years of Information Technology experience
  • At least two years of BPM development experience (preferably Appian)

Certificates or Licenses

  • Appian certified developer (preferred)
