Cloud Architect Contractor
40 hrs/week for 10 weeks

Job Description

The Sr. Cloud Infrastructure Engineer is responsible for building and migrating servers, services and enterprise applications from on-prem datacenter to the cloud, or cloud to cloud. The Sr. Engineer needs to have the aptitude to lead the requirements gathering, analysis, design, and implementation of solutions in public Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) and Platform as a Service (PaaS). Additionally, the Sr. Engineer will be responsible for providing guidance for both current state and future state requirements within the client domain. Management of private and public cloud solutions including experience with System Center, Hyper-V, or VMware is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement cloud based servers, applications, and services
  • Execute and automate the provisioning and migration of servers, applications, and services
  • Ability to analyze client workloads and recommend the most cost effective solution for business needs
  • Perform testing and research of software systems to enhance performance or investigate and resolve matters of significance
  • Collaborate with internal and client teams to conduct projects
  • Work with internal and clients teams to provide operational support of production environments

Minimum Requirements

  • A minimum of 7 years of progressive, relevant, and current IT experience is required.
  • 2+ years' experience working with Microsoft Azure Cloud technologies required.
  • Experience working with AWS and Rackspace is a plus but not required.
  • Strong knowledge of the Microsoft Stack including Active Directory and Group Policies.
  • Strong scripting skills (PowerShell) and automation (ARM templates) is required.
  • Working knowledge of Networking (VPN, firewalls, switching, DNS, and Azure networking).
  • Exceptional documentation skills and attention to detail for documentation (design documentation, processes/procedures, environment diagrams, etc).
  • Prior consulting or subcontract experience is a plus.
  • Experience with virtualization solutions including Microsoft Hyper-V/SCVMM and VMware vSphere/vCenter is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of email technologies (Exchange, mail routing, mail security filtering, etc.)
  • Ability to understand and develop PowerShell based solutions is a plus.
  • Eagerness to learn and work outside your technology comfort zone.
  • Ability to be self-motivated, independent, and detail-oriented.
  • Exhibit exceptional relationship management skills.
  • Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills.
