The Tracked Products Engineering Heavy Structures team is currently seeking a Senior Design Engineer for Large Dozers. The primary focus of this role is on the development of the D9-D11 case-to-frames, radiator guards, and bottom guards. In this position, the engineer will be responsible for the design and analysis of the components along with strong manufacturing and supplier collaboration. Projects will include New Product Introduction (NPI), New Supplier Introduction (NSI), Continuous Product Improvement (CPI), and product maintenance.
Job Duties
This position will focus first and foremost on product and process quality with a zero-defect mindset while also trying to hit program timeline and cost goals. The Senior Design Engineer will need strong communication skills and great interpersonal skills to interact with other engineering teams, the platform team, purchasing teams, and manufacturing teams. Job duties include but are not limited to:
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in an accredited Engineering curriculum with 5+ years of progressive engineering experience OR a master's degree in an accredited Engineering / Technical curriculum with 3+ years of progressive engineering experience.
Top Candidates will also have
Mechanical, Civil, or Agricultural Engineering degree.
Dozer product knowledge.
Experience with Caterpillar Engineering Systems (Teamcenter, HVC, EDS, etc.).
Previous experience designing heavy structures.
Previous experience in either NPI or CPI programs.
Experience collaborating with suppliers to optimize designs for manufacturability.
Proficiency with solid modeling software (Creo preferred).
Personal experience in executing APQP.
Strong analytical skills and personal experience performing component level FEA.
Excellent communication, interpersonal and collaboration skills.
A self-starter, accountable, and customer driven with strong teamwork and organizational skills.
Hands-on experience (e.g. machinery, heavy equipment, manufacturing processes, welding, etc.)
Additional Information
The location for this position is East Peoria, IL.
Domestic relocation assistance is available for this position.
This position may require up to 10% travel.

Job duties include but are not limited to:
- Create design concepts and drawings of complex structural systems that meet functional and technical requirements, cost and weight goals, quality initiatives, and manufacturing process requirements.
- Perform fatigue analysis on the concept using Creo Simulate
- Support validation activities such as test and field trials.
- Support and lead APQP activities.
- Collaborate with external suppliers and internal manufacturing facilities, engineering partners, and the core Product Group
Basic Qualifications
