WE BUILD WHAT MATTERS
The Large Power Systems Division (LPSD) has an opening for a Senior Engineer. This position is for a certification engineer with responsibility for IPSD-L Off road applications. The candidate will interface with many organizations within Caterpillar, including product application, engine engineering, engine test, as well as outside regulatory agencies to execute certification activities. Certification Engineers also provide vital technical support to product groups during emissions development within engine programs. The candidate will participate in review of emissions regulations and develop new processes and procedures to ensure compliance with regulations.
Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Partner with and providing technical guidance within and between units and other teams
  • May work in any number of functional areas
  • May have multiple assignments
  • Perform needs analysis and initiate ideas
  • Evaluate new products, processes, or systems
  • Communicate results to customers, suppliers, team members, and other business units
  • Contribute to the design of new products and processes
  • Perform product and process maintenance
  • Collaborate with and support other engineers, managers, marketing personnel, customers, and suppliers
  • Maintain technical currency
  • Represent the company externally


Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Engineering, Materials Science, or Engineering Technology curriculum
  • 5+ years of relevant work experience
  • 2+ years of engineering experience with engine performance, emissions development, or emissions control systems.
  • Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills


Top Candidates will also have:

  • Experience in diesel engine performance, emissions development, or emission control systems.
  • Knowledge of engine applications
  • Process improvement skills
  • Excellent communication skills - interaction with outside governmental organizations is required
  • High attention to detail
  • Organization and problem-solving skills


Additional Information:

  • Location of this position is in Mossville, IL.
  • Relocation assistance is available for this position.
  • This position may require less than 10% travel.
