Senior Manager, Engineering – Inventory Deployment and Planning

Senior Managers within Technology at Nordstrom help create an inspiring workplace where talented people are empowered to drive amazing customer experiences and business results. Through broad industry and practice knowledge and hands-on technical management experience, the Senior Manager guides a team of professionals to execute strategy and tactics that deliver desired results.

 

This role is a key member of the Inventory Deployment and Planning Technology Leadership Team who focusses on end-to-end experience optimization for Inventory Deployment (e.g Allocation, Replenishment, Restocking, Exhaust) and Planning capabilities (e.g Inventory Planning, Assortment, Financial Planning).

 

A successful candidate will have experience supporting vision, defining priorities and delivering technology roadmaps.  You will need a strong passion to lead, support, innovate and collaborate across multiple teams to deliver an optimal solution for our business partners while driving the technical strategy and vision forward. 

 

A day in the life…

  • Influences, coaches and mentors beyond the scope of own team
  • Understands, align, and communicates organization goals/strategy in addition to setting direction at the department level
  • Contributes to architecture, coding, test plans, project plans, deployment planning and operations to drive excellence and lead organization towards its goals
  • Champion for quality and best engineering practices to ensure building and maintaining a performant, scalable and reliable systems - Cross-functional collaboration during scoping, design, and implementation
  • Drives capability roadmap and defines operational excellence
  • Proven track record of applying continuous improvement methodologies across teams (e.g. quantifies impacts, customer first, waste elimination, increased productivity, iterates quickly, shorten feedback loop, experience creating relevant KPIs)
  • Ensure team has the tools, resources, and information they need to be successful
  • Hire capable and motivated talent/teams that can deliver swiftly and predictably, adjusting in an agile fashion to deliver solutions aligned with business needs
  • Create training opportunities for the team to learn the latest technologies and methodologies

You own this if you have…

  • A BA/BS in Computer Science or closely related degree or equivalent practical experience
  • 7+ years of Software Engineering or Architecture experience
  • 5+ years leading and developing teams preferable
  • Extensive experience building data platforms using technologies such as AWS, NETCore, C#, Java, Kubernetes, CI/CD tools
  • Understanding and experience with Agile and DevOps delivery frameworks and mechanisms
  • Responds effectively to complex and ambiguous problems and situations
  • Proven Experience in setting KPI’s and Processes to drive Operational Excellence
  • Consistent and on time delivery of large-scale and cross-functional projects
  • Prior Inventory Deployment, Planning and/or Retail Industry experience would be a plus but not mandatory.
  • Experience building and leading teams with mix of Full Time and Contractor resources.

*** This position requires you to be in a hub location. If you are already located in one of our hubs (Atlanta, Chicago, Denver, or Los Angeles), you can work from that location. However, if you are located elsewhere, you must be open to relocating to Seattle or one of our hubs once employees return to the office.

Hourly

Minimum - $12.55/hr

Maximum - $46.10/hr

 

Salary (Non-Exempt and Exempt)

Minimum - $30,200/annual

Maximum - $289,200/annual
