This position is about...
Nordstrom's Supply Chain Technology Team is seeking an experienced leader to move our supply chain technology forward. This position supports the software used in our fulfillment and distribution centers - the beating heart of one of the most respected fashion retailers in the country. This software drives and optimizes the daily activities in our warehouses. Supporting this complex operation requires a leader who can understand both business and technology needs to form and execute a roadmap that puts products in the hands of our customers quickly.
In this position you will work closely with product management, other engineering leaders, and your team to determine solutions that meet the needs of the business. You will own all architecture decisions and will work with your team to make them a reality. You will grow your team's careers through the execution of complex projects. You will drive operational excellence to ensure our systems are always available to meet customer needs. You will continuously drive engineering excellence and challenge your team to create a culture of constant improvement.
A day in the life...

  • Full leadership responsibility of the deliverable outcomes of engineering teams who are distributed across time zones
  • Identify and develop talented engineers and leaders, foster a healthy and collaborative culture for your team that embodies both industry best practices and Nordstrom values
  • Ownership and accountability over creating new systems, supporting, and evolving existing systems
  • Influence over technology decisions for the platform


You own this if you have...
Qualifications:

  • B.S. or M.S. degree in Computer Engineering or comparable industry experience
  • 8+ years of progressing work experience in software development, ideally in Java
  • 4+ years of leading and developing software development teams
  • Working knowledge of iSeries
  • Experience managing globally distributed teams
  • Positive track record of building distributed enterprise systems and building tools
  • Willingness to bring modern software development to older technologies
  • Supply Chain Technology experience preferred, particularly Manhattan WMS
  • Retail experience is a big plus, but not required
